About Karongi District
Karongi District
Karongi District is characterized by mountainous landscapes that form part of the Congo–Nile Divide. These high-altitude areas experience a cool climate that contributes to the distinctive quality and flavor of the tea grown there. In particular, Gisovu Tea is internationally recognized for its exceptional taste and has often ranked among the best tea in the world.
These highland areas also support the cultivation of various crops, including maize, peas, potatoes, wheat, and others. In addition, the areas located along the shores of Lake Kivu are highly productive agricultural zones known for producing high-quality coffee, maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, beans, vegetables, fruits, and other crops.
The natural environment of Gisovu, combined with advanced tea-processing expertise, contributes significantly to the outstanding quality and unique flavor of its tea.
